A Living History Since 1663

A charming combination of traditional Danish cuisine, warm hospitality, and comfortable accommodation – all surrounded by nature.

There has been an inn at Kongensbro since 1663, when Danish King Frederik III granted permission to operate an inn by the river. The present building dates back to 1949 and is still family-owned, now run by the Andersen family in the third generation.

Kongensbro Kro has always been renowned for its food traditions. Much of this legacy was shaped by Else Andersen, who co-founded the modern inn together with her husband Hans Andersen. Else Andersen authored eight Danish cookbooks, appeared on television, and became a respected ambassador for traditional Danish inn cuisine.
